The object of the Festival is to advance the education of the public in the arts, and in particular the arts of Music, Speech and Drama in all their branches.

The Festival is an Educational Trust, as started by the Harrogate Town Council as it then was, aiming to improve and enhance the performing skills of musical, singing and speech and drama students.

To this end, a wide variety of classes is held encompassing solo performers, duets and groups both large and small, in all of the arts of Music, Speech and Drama.

Affiliated to the British and International Federation of Festivals for Music, Dance and Speech of which Her Majesty The Queen is Patron.

The Festival will take place on Fridays (evening) to Sundays 2-4 March, 9-11 March and 16-18 March at Harrogate Ladies' College, Clarence Drive, Harrogate, North Yorkshire HG1 2QG (map)

The Final Concert including Young Musician Competition will be on Sunday 18 March 2012 at 7.30pm.

Audience admission is by ticket obtained at the door. (£1 per session, £2 per day, £4 per weekend and £5 for Final Concert).

Children under 17 have free entry to all sessions except Final Concert at £2.

Harrogate Competitive Festival for Music, Speech and Drama,Registered Charity 510706, was established in 1936 and is affiliated to the British and International Federation of Festivals for Music, Dance and Drama.
